Wassail!
One and all are invited to our annual orchard celebration to wish our trees good health, to liven up the darkest days, and wake the orchard from its winter slumber.
Expect fire, singing, orchard cider and juice , merriment, and much toasting of the trees.
Dress code: Winter Greenery, your finest branches and foliage.
Tradition of Wassailling
One of the customs that helped brighten up the dark Winter evenings is the wassail, known as “warzail” in Cornish dialect and “wassel” in Kernewek. In essence it is a custom involving a song that blesses the apple tree and wishes good luck for the coming year's crop.
