Olde Malt HouseFore Street

This (mainly evenings-only) small, old (14th century) town-centre inn is rather food-orientated, although casual drinkers are also welcome. The bar room is somewhat cosy, with seating space for just 8 or 9, although there is a small conservatory extension at the front of the pub and a separate comfortably-furnished TV lounge to the side with armchairs and a sofa. A notice proclaims that seating is limited for children, and in fact drinkers are also urged to sit rather than stand at the short bar. The real ale selection reduces to two in winter.
