See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
This is a traditional 17th century village pub with a rather rambling beamed interior, spread over three levels with the lowest dedicated to dining. The bar areas are decorated with photos of old local scenes and miscellaneous bric-à-brac, and a ship's compass is set into the bar top. A pool table and two dartboards are sited on the top (bar) level, which enjoys a wood-burner fire during the winter months. . Bar snacks and a 'pub grub' style menu are supplemented by a more substantial offering of 'specials'; food is available daily. The Star is family and dog friendly, and wheelchair access is possible through the rear door but not to the lowermost dining area. On Monday's a Meadery menu is served and Wednesday is curry night. Tuesday is Bingo night with a bonus ball lottery draw on Wednesday and accoustic music on Thursday. On Saturday there is a 'Chase the Joker' draw and Sunday evening is quiz night, when no food is served.
