This is a former old (1642) coaching inn, which a few years ago was completely refurbished and extended to turn it into a 'lodge'. Once the first actual roadside pub on the way into Cornwall on the A30, it has now itself been bypassed by the modern dual carriageway version. The attractive bar offers a warm welcome, although the main emphasis here is on food which is available every day in the restaurant or conservatory, and accommodation - 42 rooms are available in the adjacent lodge. An extra beer from the St Austell stable appears occasionally. Excellent disabled facilities.
