Royal Inn66 Eastcliff Road
This large pub with one bar and separate restaurant, family and function rooms, is just outside Par railway station. It is essentially a family pub and is popular for eating out, including Sunday roasts ; as well as bar food full meals are available in the separate raised dining room. A large patio at the side allows al fresco eating and drinking. The guest beer (normally one, perhaps two at busier times), is rotated frequently and may be from Cornish breweries or elsewhere. Accommodation consists of 15 ensuite rooms. Known to older hands as the Par Royal, the pub is part of a small local group, Ladybird Inns, which also owns the Galleon, Fowey. The pub acquired its 'Royal' tag when the then Prince of Wales' train broke down nearby in the late 19th century. Quiz night is Wednesday; the background music is supplemented with live performances on Friday nights.
