Royal Standard5, The Square
See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
This is a friendly 16th-century village local reputedly visited by Henry VIII, hence the name. Low beams, lots of snugs and rooms with open fires in winter enhance the traditional pub atmosphere. The locals play euchre, pool and darts as well as holding quiz nights. Freshly cooked meals using local produce are available lunchtimes and evenings. Entertainment includes shanty with an itinerant singer on alternate Sundays. The beers vary regularly, and are usually from local breweries.
