Cornish Brewers take top honours at the CAMRA Members weekend Champion Beer of Britain SW Area awards.
Gold - Mild - Penzance Brewing Co
Silver - Blackheads Mild - Driftwood Spars Brewery
Both Milds will be available as part of the Mild Mini Festival at the Old Ale House in Truro on the 10th May as part of Mild Month.
The Mild category for South West CBoB Region in the 2025 Champion Beer of Britain was judged at Torquay on Friday 11 April. There were six beers to be judged. These were the highest scoring beers from the Tasting Panels in the SW Region and votes from the national Members’ Vote. The nomination period was for the year finishing on 4 November 2024. The results were as follows: 1st Penzance Brewery Mild 2nd Driftwood Spars Blackheads Mild 3rd Bridgetown Brutus 4th Triple FFF Pressed Rat & Warthog 5th Indigenous Baldrick 6th Holsworthy Ales Mine’s a Mild So, the top two were the Cornish milds, beating about 17 other eligible milds from the region. Fantastic news for Cornwall! The next stage will be the next Champion Winter Beer of Britain finals where Penzance Mild will compete against the winners from the other eight CBoB regions around the country.
