The Dark, the Light and the Saison Presentation

Saturday 10 March 2018

On Saturday 10 March there was a gathering of CAMRA beer and cider drinkers at the Driftwood Spars at Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes, to enjoy the pub beer festival and make two presentations. The Driftwood’s festival theme was ‘The Dark, the Light and the Saison’. In addition to the Driftwood beers, other beers and Touchwood Medium Cider on handpump in the bar, there were ten beers on gravity from far and wide, with a range of styles to suit everyone.

Bob Southwell, CAMRA’s South West Regional Cider Coordinator, came down from South Devon to present the CAMRA Gold Award for Champion Cider of Devon & Cornwall to Nigel Smith of Touchwood Cider for his Medium Cider. The ciders were judged at the CAMRA Falmouth Beer Festival last October. Touchwood Cider is based in Mithian, which is only a few miles from St Agnes.

CAMRA Cornwall Deputy Branch Chairman Vince Curtis then presented the CAMRA Gold Award for Champion Cornish Strong Bitter to Pete Martin of Driftwood Spars Brewery for Driftwood JSB, which was also judged at the CAMRA Falmouth Beer Festival last October.
