CALLING ALL CORNWALL CAMRA MEMBERS: CHAMPION BEER OF BRITAIN VOTING

Sunday 2 October 2016

CALLING ALL CORNWALL CAMRA MEMBERS: CHAMPION BEER OF BRITAIN VOTING

You are probably aware (or ought to be) that there is a ballot of all the CAMRA membership to find worthy candidates for the Champion Beer of Britain. All branch members in the south-west of England are invited to vote for their favourite brews, and when the votes are counted, the top 6 or so in each class will go forward to the next stage of the competition, which is actual judging of the beers at beer festivals to find the best of the best in each class. These then go on to the big race for the title of ‘Champion Beer of Britain’ at the Great British Beer Festival in London.

Voting has now progressed to just past the half-way point, and so far in Cornwall only 12 people have bothered to put finger to keyboard. The vote closes on 1 November, and there are still over 1000 members out there still to make their choices. I know we can do much better than this, and indeed have in past years beaten all the other SW branches in terms of voter turnout. So, if you would like to help our local breweries to get towards this much sought-after prize, or indeed any non-Cornish ones whose beers you enjoy in the region, please take a few minutes to log on to the members’ voting website www.cbobvoting.org.uk and cast your votes now. You will be invited to vote for up to 5 beers in each of 10 categories (bitters, best bitters, golden ales, milds…. etc), plus bottled beers in an eleventh group. List your choices in order of preference from 1 to 5 in each group – and you don’t have to vote for all 5 if you don’t know the beers on the lists, or indeed any at all in a group if that’s not your sort of brew. Just vote for some, and you will be added in.

I’ll let you all know how we have done once the votes have been counted.

Many thanks, and cheers!
