Regular beers: St Austell Proper Job, St Austell Tribute

See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

This simple and friendly one-bar town local, styling itself as a gin and ale house, was one of St. Austell Brewery's first pubs which it leased in 1863 and purchased outright in 1925 for £1000. Not all of the beers are likely to be available in the winter months, and the selection may be rotated among the St. Austell portfolio or with national guest ales. There is an outside drinking area in the small courtyard, which is accessed via the pub or an alleyway. The pub has gained a reputation as one of the best places to eat in the town, despite its determinedly local feel and atmosphere (it sports wooden floors and the inevitable juke box). The bus and railway stations are about 5min walk away.
