Old School Bar & KitchenCrosstown
See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
In the former village primary school building (hence the name), this pub styles itself as a 'bar and kitchen'. Reopened in summer 2013 and extensively refurnished, the left hand room houses the main bar area, which is where the high tables, bar stools and wall ledges lend themselves to the drinking section of the clientele. A sataircase at one end leads up to a mezzanine lounge area for relaxing on well-upholstered sofas or with space to eat at a few dining tables. Three steel handpulls dispense the beer, of which the guest ale varies but is always from Skinner's Brewery. The right-hand part of the old building contains a separate restaurant area. Monday is quiz night, and live entertainment appears Saturday evenings. The bus stops by the school wall.
